Our apartments are located in a place full of history in the city of Cusco Peru, a place where writers told that the Inca dynasty started and ended, this place is called Qolqanpata which in Quechua means "platform or terrace barns” situated in the foothills of the fortress of Sacsayhuaman and above the main square of Cusco, Qolqanpata was the first and most important district of Cusco in Inca times.
Is in this place, where the Inca Manco Capac (who was the founder of the Inca Empire) installs his residence and remained there until 1572, the last son of Inca Huayna Capac, Cristobal Paullo, who is considered the last Inca noble descendant of Manco Capac. Cristobal Paullo, was born and raised under Spanish domination, he built the church of San Cristobal, which is adjacent to Qolqanpata. The chronicles say that Paullo's children, Carlos and Felipe, were classmates of the historian, Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.
Garcilaso de la Vega tells that the plantings on the terraces of Qolqanpata were only for the worship the sun, that's why these terraces were considered "Gardens of the sun". The Inca worked in these fields personally, accompanied by members of the nobility, here began the planting and harvesting of each year and the seeds collected were distributed all over the Tawantinsuyo for planting in the Land of the Sun.
Is in Qolqanpata were Garcilaso de la Vega tells that ceremonies were performed for the triumphs of the warriors and the sun god was appreciated. The sons of inca nobility was also educated in the art of war, education that was inspired by principles of discipline, rigorous abstinence, of stoic endurance and agility drills, strength and skill. At 16 years old young nobles were put to the test of physical endurance, running after fasting from the hill Huanacaure to Qolqanpata.
